About Us
We’re Jon and Lisa - the faces behind Grounded.
Grounded is a family-owned, community-rooted space in Bowmanville built from our shared belief that people deserve somewhere to land. Somewhere creative. Somewhere warm. Somewhere that feels human.
As parents, business owners, and community builders, we’ve shaped Grounded around the values that guide our own lives: compassion, equity, accessibility, and mutual support. What started as a vision has grown into a space for art, workshops, movement, conversation, and real connection—where nervous systems can soften and community can take root.
This isn’t just a storefront. It’s our family’s way of contributing to a kinder, more connected world—one where no one has to do life alone.
We’re really glad you’re here.

THE ONE IN FIVE PROJECT
At Grounded and The One in Five Project, our work is shaped by one reality: one in five people will experience severe health challenges in their lifetime. That’s not a small number. It’s someone in every family, every classroom, every workplace. And we’ve built this space with that one person in mind.
We don’t want anyone to be left out.
Our mission is to support people who are often last to receive care—or written off entirely. Marginalized communities. Individuals navigating complex mental or physical health challenges. Families doing their best with limited support. We believe everyone deserves kindness and compassion, regardless of age, income, identity, or stage of life.
We adapt based on the needs of the communities we serve. That flexibility allows us to respond to real situations in real time, creating long-term stability and sustainability rather than one-size-fits-all solutions.
We are currently privately owned and funded. We rely on private donations, memberships, and community support to keep our doors open and our community pantry stocked. Every contribution helps us continue showing up for the people who need it most.
If you’re here, you’re already part of the story.
