Grounded
by The One in Five Project
Founded by Jon and Lisa Hicks, Grounded is a community-driven space designed for connection, creativity, rest & Mutual Aid. Part market, part gathering space, part creative hub—Grounded brings together thoughtfully curated products, workshops, and shared spaces to support sensory-friendly living and intentional well-being.
Here’s what you’ll find inside:
🛍️ The Community Shop – A selection of unique, hard-to-find sensory-friendly and wellness-focused products, handpicked to support daily life. Every vendor is carefully chosen to align with our mission. Apply Here to become a vendor.
🤝 The Shared Community Space – A place for workshops, movement classes, support groups, and creative gatherings—all designed to foster connection and growth. Sign-Up for our Membership.
🏡 Sensory Room – A quiet, welcoming space for folks that need to take a pause. Also available to rent for therapists, wellness practitioners, life coaches, private meetings, and more.
🌮 Community Pantry - A take-what-you-need, leave-what-you-can pantry open to anyone in Bowmanville. It’s stocked with food, hygiene products, household basics, and seasonal essentials — all provided through community donations.
We know that not everyone can commit to a membership, and we never want finances to be a barrier to accessing community. If membership isn’t an option for you, you’re welcome to join us by making a donation—whether it’s money, non-perishable food, or items for our community needs cupboard.
We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for all, with a particular focus on ensuring that BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, disabled, and other marginalized communities feel truly at home here. We recognize that entering new spaces can feel uncertain, and we want to be clear—you belong here.
Grounded is built on principles of anti-racism, accessibility, and community care, and we actively work to foster an environment where everyone is seen, valued, and supported.
Grounded is a place to shop, gather, create, and rest. Whether you’re browsing the market, attending a workshop, or simply existing in community, this space is yours.
✨ Grounded operates as a for-profit business, but its success helps fund The One in Five Project, our initiative to provide accessible mental health support.
